For daily fantasy purposes, an angry and extra motivated Russell Westbrook playing on national television (8:00 p.m. est on TNT) is simply the best. The Dallas Mavericks, in an already tough spot playing in a road back-to-back, travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder. The motivation for Russ stems from comments made in 2015 by Dallas owner Mark Cuban that he’ll never be a “superstar”. Poor choice of words. An hour before game 5 of a first round playoff game, Cuban commented that a true superstar can carry a mediocre roster to 50 wins and a postseason series win. He noted that the Thunder failed to make the playoffs in 2014-15, when Kevin Durant was on the shelf with an injury. Well, in that same game five, Westy dropped a 36 point, 12 rebound, 9 assist performance on Mark’s ego and eliminated the Mavericks in the process.
Fast forward to December 10th, 2016…Cuban defends his comments that Russell is still not a superstar, saying “That’s no disrespect to Russell. He’s been a beast. Few have done what he’s done, but I’ll stick by my definition. I’m not saying that he’s not going to prove me wrong and that he [won’t be] a superstar by the end of the year. That’s fine, but I’ll stick by my definition.”
Mr. Cuban, Russell Westbrook has 22 TRIPLE DOUBLES THIS SEASON AND IT’S JANUARY
We love Russell Westbrook tonight, even at an inflated price tag and against a slow-paced Dallas squad. Angry Russ ignite.
