In a west coast hammer game far, far away, The Trail Blazers travel to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers in what should be a high scoring and fantasy bonanza of scoring. The Clippers are having their “Star Wars Night” where the first 10,000 fans receive a death star basketball (see feature photo). While this probably has no impact on the actual game, it’s worth mentioning because I want one.
Portland knocked Los Angeles out of the opening round of the playoffs last season, as both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin suffered injuries to leave the Clippers depleted. The Clippers rebounded in the first two matchups with the Clippers this season by winning each time, including a 111-80 blowout at Staples Center on November 9th. However, the Blazers played with no rest that night. The Blazers will be playing with one day of rest tonight after blowing a 20-point lead in a 118-111 setback at Indiana on Saturday. Portland plays the final contest of a five-game road swing tonight after losing the last three games, including defeats at Milwaukee and Memphis.
There is also the State Farm commercial narrative if you want to really stretch it….
Al Jefferson (Indiana vs. Charlotte) — It’s the second time Al faces his former team. The first game back on November 7th resulted in a respectable 12 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in just 19 minutes of court time. Perhaps a nice punt tonight that will surely be low-owned.
Roy Hibbert (Charlotte @ Indiana) — Old man Roy faces his former team but did not play in the first meeting.
Matt Barnes (Sacramento vs. Los Angeles Lakers) — Matty in a previous encounter with the Lakers on the 10th of November put up an unimpressive stat line of 7/5/1/2/2 in 28 minutes off the bench.
Let us know what we missed @NBANARRATIVES — Thank you!
