A large eleven game slate on Monday gives us plenty of narratives sprinkled throughout the game, but our top narrative is the #defendtheland vs #wethenorth clash in Canada. The Raptors are riding a 7-game win streak while the Cavaliers are reeling with a three-game skid. Toronto has lost both meetings this season by a combined seven points. A spirited rivalry has developed between these two East powerhouses and we should see yet another competitive matchup. Unfortunately, Drake is included.
Boston @ Houston — Elvin Hayes San Diego Bobble
The rockets have called Houston home since the 1971/1972 season, but for three years prior, they called San Diego home. They are honoring NBA great Elvin Hayes tonight
Charlotte @ Dallas — Harrison Barnes Bobblehead to first 5,000 fans
When Mr. Barnes played with Golden State, he was honored with a bobblehead night of his own. He broke out of a month-long slump with a 15/6/2/1/1 line in 31 minutes. Just saying.
Jameer Nelson (Denver @ Philly) — Jameer played his college ball at Saint Joseph’s
Tristan Thompson (Cleveland @ Toronto) — TT is from Canada!
Anthony Morrow (OKC @ Atlanta) — Anthony played college ball at Georgia Tech
Monta Ellis (Indiana @ Golden State)
Robin Lopez (Chicago vs. Portland)
Russell Westbrook Narrative
The dude is a freak we all know. Last night was his fifth consecutive triple-double (well, a quad double if you include the 10 turnovers). Russ is the first player since a guy named Michael Jordan in 1989 to record five consecutive trip-dubs. MJ’s streak ended at seven that year. The Hawks are a hot mess right now, and despite the road back-to-back facing the Thunder, the Russ Express is sure not to slow down tonight. All aboard.
Let us know what we missed @NBAnarratives — good luck today!
