Narrative of the Day
It’s day 3 in the Association, and the stage belongs to Dwayne Wade, who returns to his hometown of Chicago in a spotlight game versus the Boston Celtics who are on a back-to-back after opening the season at home versus the lowly Brooklyn Nets. Just how much does playing in Chicago mean to Wade? He summarizes it on his website:
“Growing up in Robbins, Ill., I never dreamed that an NBA career could have even been possible and that one day I would wear a Chicago Bulls jersey. Watching the Bulls growing up inspired me at an early age to pursue my dream of becoming a basketball player. My most treasured memories were watching my dad play basketball on the courts of Fermi Elementary School and developing my game at the Blue Island Recreation Center. I have never forgotten where I came from and I am thankful to have an opportunity to play for the team that first fueled my love of the game. Many of my family members still live in Chicago and I am excited to return home to a city very close to my heart. I look forward to returning to my roots and to what lies ahead.”
It’s also a travel day for the Cubs and Indians battling for the World Series, so the city’s attention will be on the Da Bulls. Expect D-Wade to play inspired basketball in front of the Chicago crowd. He will also be wearing his new shoe appropriately named “Coming Home”
In addition to Wade, Dwight Howard returns to his hometown of Atlanta and should be a focal point of this offense providing high usage night in and night out. He’s in an excellent spot against Marcin Gortat.
NBA Revenge Game
Rajon Rondo – Bulls vs Celtics
Per @StatMuse, in 3 games versus his former team, Rondo is averaging 41.83 DraftKings points and 38.26 FanDuel points
Kris Humphries– Hawks vs Wizards
Evan Turner – Trail Blazers vs. Clippers
Not many birthday games for Evan, but back in his rookie season (2010-2011), Evan dropped a 16 point, 7 rebound, 4 assist, 1 block, 2 turnover line versus the Heat when he was a member of the 76ers. Although he did struggle in the first Blazers game two days ago, he did log 26 minutes off the bench. Maybe that 1-for-7 shooting performance can course correct itself for the Birthday Game.
